Over the course of the past month we have shared posts relating to the sire and dam lines, two very important studies by Joe Ferriss. They led up to the release of all thirteen volumes of The Reference Handbook of Straight Egyptian Arabian Horses in digital format through The Pyramid Society's website. And this past week we posted the slides from a presentation that was given at an Egyptian Event seminar shortly after the release of Volume XII of the Reference Handbook which provides a brief history of the Reference Handbooks and how one can make practical use of them in guiding us in decisions we all make in deciding which stallion will be bred to which mare, and why. With all of these in hand it was felt that there was one important presentation we could yet share that might help all of us in our mission to rediscover and preserve the sire and dam lines that form the Straight Egyptian Arabian Horse as it exists today, cherishing the phenotypic and genotypic diversity essential to art of breeding. And that is Joe Ferriss' Tree of Life presentation. During the early months after the Covid 19 global pandemic things were very uncertain as to how and when our community could gather. One of the ways we felt would be helpful was to convert one of our most well-received seminar presentations into an online presentation. It was Gail Mailloux's vision which brought it to light. She was there when Joe initially made the live presentation in 2017 and spoke enthusiastically of the critical nature of the information he shared. We approached Joe and discussed some of the possibilities given the constraints that we faced. Joe was very willing to find the medium that would work and did all of this himself. As always, Joe was very generous with his time, and it was Joe and Gail Mailloux's sponsorship that made it possible to have it produced and disseminated within the Straight Egyptian community. We trust you will enjoy viewing it again...or perhaps for the very first time.
