On a spring day in 1977 a black filly, Bahila, was born at Dr. Taushke’s El Thayeba Stud in Grobenkneten, Germany, and she was the first foal born of this mating between Ibn Galal I (by Ibn Galal, a full brother to the black stallion, El Mokhtar, and a ¾ brother of Gleannloch’s famous U.S. Reserve National Champion mare, Nahlah), and out of the Alaa El Din daughter, 11 Hanadi), and out of Bakria (Gharib x Baheia). It is interesting to note that both Gharib and Baheia are out of Sid Abouhom daughters and both of them are of the Venus family as was Ibn Galal, his sire, Galal, being a full brother to Faleh, Farazdac and Nabilahh (all of the famed Yosreia family) and his dam, Mohga, an own daughter of Yosreia by the Shahloul son, El Sareei. This mating would be made several times later producing the stallion, Bahrou, and the mares, El Thay Siwa and El Thay Baheia. As a 3 year old she was purchased in partnership between Jarrell McCracken of Bentwood Farms and David Gardner of Gardner Bloodstock and was imported to the United States of America.
Bahila’s first foal was the mare, AK Imaara (x The Egyptian Prince), a mare who bred forward and produced very well. Later she was bred to Ruminaja Ali, who had just recently been crowned as U.S. National Reserve Champion Stallion. As noted in The Minstril’s bio, the joint ownership was dissolved not long before the expected foal would arrive, and on July 27, 1984 The Minstril was born. It was an exciting time and as the young colt grew he began establishing himself as a superior show horse and breeding stallion within Straight Egyptian circles as well as the general Arabian Horse community.
Patterns began to emerge in some of his best offspring and he was doing exceptionally well with daughters of The Egyptian Prince: Belle Staar (the dam of Ariela Arabians’ beautiful mare, The Vision HG), and of course, Thee Desperado (x AK Amiri Asmarr) and his siblings, La Marsala, MS Asmari and others. He also sired other outstanding individuals or breeding horses like The Minuet (dam of Egyptian Event Champion, Botswana), Miss Maggie Mae, Magidaa’s Image, Maaristral, and Lotus Wanisa, to name a few.
