Legacy: In Tribute to the Egyptian Arabian Horse - Belle Staar

Updated: Sep 14

This week we continue featuring some of the horses who appeared in the Legacy Section of Volume XII of the Reference Handbook of Straight Egyptian Horses, and have chosen the lovely Belle Staar.  Her pedigree is a reflection of a very successful pattern which was repeated many times with The Minstril being bred to daughters of The Egyptian Prince and producing the likes of Thee Desperado, Lily Langry HG, Maaristral, MS Asmari, LaMarsala, April Sonataa, The Lucky Lady, Bint Amiri Asmarr, and Thee Federali, to name a few.

Belle Staar’s first foal was the lovely world-renowned black mare, The Vision HG who was owned by Ariela Arabians for most of her life and who produced many international champions and great breeding horses like Al Maraam, Al Lahab AA, Al Hadiyah AA, Al Raheb AA, and Al Ayal AA.

Horses who are also of Belle Staar’s tail female line include Vivien PG, Alia Hasna, Ferial and her daughters, Haniya and her daughters, Aniya, Bint El Mareekh, Jaliya and an important son, The Elixir, and then, of course, Zaafarana and her progeny.  It really is quite a family and has done well bred to a variety of stallions of different lines.
